Garden Maintenance in Subiaco

On Monday, Property Care Guys did Garden Maintenance in Subiaco, near Perth.

Reticulation Repair in Swanbourne

Today, Property Care Guys did a Reticulation Repair in Swanbourne, West of Perth.

The owner was doing some major house renovations (which we can also arrange) including removal of the back wall where the old control box was. So our job was to locate the solenoid valves, install the controller elsewhere and rerun the retic wiring from the new controller location to the valves.

Locating Solenoids – Found them in a nearby garden with a Master valve plumbed in off a back garden tap. The front ones were similarly near the front tap. Not so common but there was a Master valve at the front and rear both running off the same control box which is usually ok.

Wiring Circuit – The old wiring was a joke, running on top of the footpath for about 20 metres so we installed the Rainbird controller and an outdoor power point up the side, and ran two new 5 core cables in the roof. One to the rear one to the front. Some had to go under paving so we removed the brick pavers and ran the wiring in PVC conduit so it will never have to be dug up again and gel wire connectors for a water tight seal. There was no electricity to the house so the Electrician on site hooked up an inverter from his car to test everything.

Sprinklers all seemed to be working great and there are now no unsightly wires.

Lawn and Reticulation in Cannington

This week, Property Care Guys installed Lawn and Reticulation in Cannington, South East of Perth.

Matthew has a new house but none of the yard work was done. We quoted up irrigating the front and rear gardens, installing the side and rear roll-on lawns being either Buffalo or Empire Zoysia and also reticulating these areas with an automated retic system having toro popup sprinklers and m-rotators for waterwise water saving. We also installed 240v electrical supply to the rear where the owner is putting in a fish pond and possibly a fountain.

The great thing about this system is it saves a lot of money for two main reasons:

1. Empire Zoysia grows slowly therefore needing much less water than other grasses.
2. The watering system we installed is also water efficient so this combination is a win-win and highly recommended.

Along with the PVC pressure pipe and serviceable solenoid valves, it’s extremely reliable. Don’t fall for cheap quotes. You simply won’t get the quality and will cost you much more in the long run. Contact us via the online booking form for a walk over with ideas of what we can do for you.

Garden Maintenance in Maylands

Today, Property Care Guys did Garden Maintenance in Maylands, East of Perth.

PCG meets any gardening requirements of any type of entity whether it be residential, industrial, commercial or Strata we do the lot. Usually at an hourly basis either once per month or a fortnightly gardening service where there are grassed areas but if desired we can easily quote you up a general monthly maintenance schedule after meeting up with you and going through what needs to be done both…

1) Regularly – usually weeding and weed control, blower vac, bushes and shrubs, mowing and edges and

2) Occasionally – usually mulching, tree pruning, lawn treatments.

To be completely honest, you or your company are better off to go by an hourly rate as we and other gardening service businesses need to add a substantial amount on top of what we personally estimate the workload to be, just to make sure we don’t under quote. It’s a win-win really as you save money while we save time quoting.

Garden Maintenance in Doubleview

Today the Property Care Guys did Garden Maintenance in Doubleview, North West of Perth.

I (Matt) had a work order to fix the reticulation at the property a few weeks ago and found some poorly installed Reticulation poly pipe with some kind of heat shrinked pipe over the top which was never going to be properly water tight so I replaced all that with proper connections.

The system had mains water pressure at the station valves.. bad! I located the Master solenoid valve in the back yard (rare) which was faulty and leaking a lot so it was replaced. The job was done for a property manager. The tenant was happy with our job also and asked if we do gardening which of course we do too. We are a group of property care people and can handle most orders. If we can’t, we know someone who can and organise it all for you. Leave the hassle to us.

We had Phil come and do a vacate garden cleanup for Josh which included a general tidy up, weeds, paving areas, garden beds and shrubs pruning.  We also mowed lawn areas and cleaned up the verge areas. In the end Josh only spent less than $150 for our Horticulturist gardener to come out and do three hours work. You’d be lucky to find that elsewhere for someone so qualified.

Reticulation Repair in Cannington

Yesterday the Property Care Guys did Reticulation Repair in Cannington, South East of Perth.

Josh had visited his rental property and noticed a substantial pooling of water at the side of the house, which the tenants had not reported. He called a Plumber and a leak was found where there was a failed connection between the copper mains pipe and a polyurethane joiner.. a join i’m not too fond of as I think sealed thread connections are more reliable withstanding disturbances like shovel hits while digging better.  There was also another leak – the Master Solenoid valve close by had water trickling out of it where someone had tried to patch a hole up with some kind of glue which had failed and removed the valve. So our job was to replace the Master Valve. We installed a 20x25mm threaded joiner with plumbing tape between the copper and the valve. The valve is an Australian made unit with flow control. The PVC pipe was misaligned so that was dug back and moved and a PVC slip fix installed.  You can see we have also used Gel connectors on the wiring rather than just taping them up, which is fine when done right, though the connectors are neater and water tight. It’s recommended to let glue dry a while on the outlet side of the valve before testing the sprinklers  and for maximum strength of connections, preferably 24 hours. This is more crucial on the inlet side of Master valves if there are glued parts. If you have to test the system right away, leave it 15 minutes first, then manually open a station valve first, then open the Master valve, which means you’re not loading any fresh joins with much water  pressure.

Reticulation Repair in Gidgegannup

This week Property Care Guys did Reticulation Repair in Gidgegannup, North East of Perth

We service most Rural areas in the Perth area. The bigger the job the further it’s worth going for. Barry’s called saying his system needed some major repair work including a new 8 station controller box. This wasn’t the case as it just needed resetting, saving $420. It did need a lot of maintenance though. New solenoid valves, fixing broken risers, many PVC pipes and connections were broken due to machinery damage and animals had chewed a lot of Poly pipes. We installed a large number of spectrum stake sprinklers and some dripline. Many of the Gear Drive Pop-ups were old and busted needing replacement. These are commonly used in commercial or rural applications as they use less parts meaning lower maintenance, have a long throw and cover wide areas of garden or lawn.  We use Toro and Hunter Mechanical sprinklers which are seen in the pictures. Two PCG Retic Technicians spent two days doing extensive repairs and replacements on this system ready for Summer.

Garden Maintenance in Nollamara

This week the Property Care Guys did Garden Maintenance in Nollamara, North of Perth

We cover all Northern, Eastern, Western and Southern suburbs within roughly 25km of Perth with regular gardening cleanup work. Our current main gardener is experienced in Horticulture training so rest assured you’ll be getting quality work and amazing value for money especially if there is any specialty work to be done aside from weeds, lawns and bushes etc. This particular job required Rose Pruning which we enjoy. You can let us know how you like your roses pruned. Some customers just want them “massacred” as roses are tough and they’d rather them done quickly while others are “rose-cazy” and used to do all their own gardening themselves but  have since become unable to perform such physical tasks so call a gardener in to continue on with a list of instructions, especially roses 🙂

We currently have a promotional hourly rate which will not increase for at least one year from commencement of regular gardening on your property.

Soakwell Installation in Willeton

Today the Property Care Guys did Soakwell Installation in Willeton, South of Perth

What is a Soakwell?

Basically, it is a drainage pit. They are a tank under the ground designed to take in water quickly and disperse it through the ground, preventing flooding of an above ground area. Usually they’re used to take in rain from a roof via roof guttering leading into stormwater downpipes, then directly into the tank. Another common use is on hardscaped ground areas such as paving or concrete which won’t absorb water fast enough. These areas may be built to slope towards the soakwell or channeled by some sort of drain system leading there. You may also benefit from a soakwell where garden areas may be washed away in heavy rains otherwise. The most common materials to manufacture soakwells are Polypropylene or Concrete and come in all sizes.

We support saving your own rain water, so your particular need such as diversion from a roof may be better suited to a rainwater tank, which we can also supply and install.

Garden Cleanup in Ascot

Last week the Property Care Guys did a Garden Cleanup in Ascot, near Perth Airport.

A Real Estate agent requested a quote for a vacate gardening clean-up. We have many years experience in these and know how places should be presented for new tenants moving in, who are usually required to keep the gardens in the same condition throughout their tenancy. (Most don’t of course, and do a panic garden maintenance the day before their inspections haha) A general garden tidy up will always consist of tree pruning and shrub trimming, weeding including paved areas and of course lawn mowing, whipper snipping and often roof gutter cleaning. Sometimes a good layer of mulch on the garden beds will also present the place to look great and give a natural protective layer for micro organisms in the soil and to hold moisture in, saving water use. We test and repair any reticulation and treat plants and grass areas if requested.

On this particular job you can see by the before and after pictures that our Tree Surgeon has done tree Pollarding at the front.
